Typeface design

Concept

This is a project I created at Berghs School of Communication in Experimental Typography. Since then, I’ve developed a passion for experimental typefaces and for questioning the very idea of what a typeface is—and what it isn’t.

The brief challenged us to select a place in Stockholm and design a typeface inspired by it, with no limits or rules. I chose the Royal National Park, Haga Parken. From this, I designed a font family called Florish, inspired by 18th-century calligraphy (from the era when the park was established) and the raw, organic forms of the park’s tree branches.
